My Favorite Passion

Olivia and her sister with Seth Rogan

As a kid, one of my favorite activities was watching movies. Over time, I went from enjoying movies for the plot to enjoying movies for the work that was put into making an idea into a reality. I have always loved the way that people find a way to create a message through film. I have loved trying to find the writers’ and directors’ hidden meaning behind the plot of movies. Now, one of my favorite activities is working to make movies.

My first introduction to the film scene was becoming a production assistant for a friend’s short film. I had never been that nervous before, especially after seeing and reading about the people who work on sets and the fear of messing up. Upon arriving, I was introduced to every single person, and they all treated me like I had been there before. Through that one experience, I was able to lift off and gain so many more opportunities through the people I met in that single day.

And through them, I was introduced to SXSW, where one of the people I had worked with had a premiere of their own. At that film festival, I was able to meet so many others who loved to talk about movies and ideas. The one thing that would always surprise me was that no matter how high up in the ranks people are, they all love to talk to one another about ideas. No matter how many times I help on a project, the magic that happens behind the scenes never fails to impress me almost as much as the project itself.
